Important construction phase of our biomass heating power plant completed.
ALPMA has set another goal to further reduce carbon dioxide emissions, and reduce our environmental footprint. A crucial milestone on our way to climate neutrality is the conversion of the old oil heating system to this new ecological wood chip system built right here on our production site and head offices in Rott am Inn, Bavaria.
The special feature of our new heat generator: ALPMA has forests of its own and therefore can source biomass internally and locally. In addition, the installation permits the use of discarded wood pallets and other sustainable packaging materials — also those of our sister companies Alpenhain Käsespezialisten GmbH and Frischpack GmbH. About 1,500 m3 of sustainably and locally grown wood will replace the previously used fossil fuel heating oil of approx. 150,000 liters per year.
Construction is in full swing and an important phase was completed this week. Using a crane, the buffer storage silo was lifted from a truck and positioned precisely in its new position. The tank has a capacity of 30,000 liters of water and will in future provide the heat for heating and hot water supply at the ALPMA site.
The construction of our wood chip plant is progressing well and will bring us one step closer to our goal of greater sustainability very soon.
